NDIS support

Development, Daily Living and Life Skills

Build the everyday skills that make independence possible.

What it is

In plain language

This is training support rather than task support. Instead of doing something for you, a worker teaches, practises and coaches until the skill is yours.

We start by picking one or two goals that matter to you right now. We break each one into steps, practise in real settings rather than a classroom, and track progress so you can see it.

Skills learned here often reduce the amount of other support a person needs, which is the point. Progress is reviewed regularly with you, and with your support coordinator or plan manager if you want them involved.

What this can include

Examples of the support

Support is always tailored, so your plan may include some of these, all of them, or something different again.

  • Budgeting, paying bills and managing money week to week
  • Cooking, meal planning and safe use of the kitchen
  • Cleaning routines and looking after a home
  • Using public transport and planning a trip
  • Managing appointments, calendars and reminders
  • Self-management skills such as problem solving, decision making and speaking up for yourself
  • Using a phone, computer or apps to stay organised and connected
