NDIS support

Assist-Travel and Transport

Get where you need to go, and learn to do it on your own.

What it is

In plain language

Assist-Travel and Transport covers both getting you there and teaching you to get there. Many people start with a worker driving or riding along, then move step by step towards travelling alone.

Travel training is done on the real route you need, at the real time of day, so what you practise is what you will actually do. We work on reading timetables, tapping on, knowing where to get off and what to do if something goes wrong.

All workers who transport participants hold a current licence, and vehicles are registered, insured and maintained.

What this can include

Examples of the support

Support is always tailored, so your plan may include some of these, all of them, or something different again.

  • Transport to appointments, work, study and activities
  • Travel training on your regular routes
  • Support to plan a trip, read timetables and use travel apps
  • Practice with tapping on, transfers between services and finding platforms
  • Building a plan for delays, cancellations and getting help
  • Support to use taxis and rideshare safely
